Humanitarian aid from the Scouts of Greece in the earthquake affected areas of Turkey and Syria

The people of Turkey and Syria who were hit by the earthquake immediately needed the help and solidarity of the whole world.The Scouts of Greece, faithful to the Principles of International Friendship and Solidarity, from the first moment coordinated the collection of essential items for sending humanitarian aid to the affected areas.

More than 180 boxes of essential goods were loaded today, Thursday, February 16, 2023 on the ship of the Mytilini-Aivali line and tomorrow they will be delivered to the local authorities of Aivali in the absence of the Scouts of Lesbos who will accompany the mission.

On Tuesday, February 14, 2023 and within only4 days, the Scouts around Attica region managed to collect, pack and send to Lesvos island and from there to Ayvali city in Turkey the first shipment of humanitarian aid (150 boxes) to the earthquake-affected areas of Turkey.

During the first mission of humanitarian aid,from Attica region, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andreas Katsaniotis visited the HQ of the Scouts of Greece, and congratulated the Scouts for their initiative and their perfect organization.

In the city of Thessaloniki, the collected items will be transported by road and delivered to the Boy Scouts of Constantinople. For the rest of Greece, the collected items will reach theirfinal destination through the network of the Hellenic Red Cross.


As Scouts, we promised to help every person in every situation. Every day we are called to make our scouts promise a reality.The times call for us to try even harder, so that giving to the ones in need and solidarity can relieve our hard-pressed fellow human beings.

The Scouts of Greece express our sorrow for the thousands of dead from the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
