Safe from Harm

Safe from Harm is a set of actions designed to make sure that every person involved in Scouting is responsible and committed to protect children and young people inside or outside the Movement, so everyone can feel safe, at any time.

For over 100 years, Scouting’s successful existence has been based on the fact that it has taken the responsibility to provide a safe environment for children and young people, to support their development. The purpose of the Safe from Harm policy is to protect all our members from harm in connection with the World Safe from Harm Policy by World Organization for the Scouting Movement (WOSM). Abuse, harassment and bullying are completely unacceptable within Scouting. That is why having a Safe from Harm procedure is mandatory at all national Scout events.

World Safe From Harm policy is implemented alongside the WOSM Code of Conduct that outlines how members of WOSM are expected to behave with other Scouts. Scouts of Grece, have separately published two handbooks in Greek, regarding Adult member’s Safety and Bullying prevention.

Scouts of Greece they in their effort to better protect their members while scouting, they have set up the Independent Committee for Members Safety and Protection. This committee consists of professionals in the fields of Higher Education, Personal Health and Psychology. The members of the Committee are:
Mrs Alexandra Efthimiadou
Mr Vasilis Kasimatis
Mr Panagiotis Siaperas

The work of the committee is assisted as Secretary, by Mr Aggelos Karamanis who also works as the point of contact between the Committee and the Scouts of Greece Board.
